Starting Friday, August 8, 2025, Pokémon is coming to McDonald’s Japan’s Happy Meal! This time, it’s a special promotion where you can receive an exclusive McDonald’s Pokémon card.

What’s Inside the Happy Meal?

The promotional image shows Pikachu and Charmander toys, but full details of the lineup have yet to be revealed.

Each Happy Meal comes with one special illustrated Pikachu card and one additional random card from the following five Pokémon:

Riolu
Ralts
Fuecoco
Sprigatito
Quaxly

All cards feature the exclusive McDonald’s logo! Perfect not only for collectors, but also for children just starting out with the Pokémon card game.

The Pikachu card features a one-of-a-kind illustration of Pikachu staring at a hamburger—available only through this Happy Meal promotion. It’s a must-have for any fan!

We Actually Went!

I went to McDonald’s around 10:00 a.m. on August 9.

The place was already crowded, and there was a big stack of Happy Meals at the counter—presumably for mobile orders. This time, I ordered four Happy Meals for eat-in.

Note: There’s a limit of up to five per person.

First, the Happy Meal Toys

Wave 1 includes four types: Pikachu, Squirtle, Charmander, and Mega Lucario.

Result: I managed to collect all four!

The cards come in a pack printed with Pikachu. You’re guaranteed to get Pikachu, and the other card(s) are random—so I was excited to see what I’d pull.
